The Biological product Devoroil is intended for oil and oil products biodegradation at pollution of soil, natural water reservoirs, aquatories, industrial drains and rehabilitation of the territories under pollution.
The Devoroil discovers its cleaning biotechnology based on natural microbial associations actively utilizing oil hydrocarbons and allowing in the shortest terms to clean oil and oil products pollution in soil and priming coat, secondary railways, depot areas and open water reservoirs.
Special additives in the structure of the biological product make the oil destruction process considerably more active, increase its overall performance in the natural environment.
«Devoroil» has no analogues among the domestic preparations. It possesses means of hydrocarbons biodegradation of any structure (linear, interim and cyclic), actively implants in the oil layer, and restores the aeration process.
After processing the polluted soil with the biological preparation the priming coat retains an easily decaying bacterial protein and ecologically clean neutral products of oil oxidation, helping to develop natural ecosystem microflora.
The biological method of cleaning oil pollutions is based on biological preparations, representing a biomass of microorganisms, using oil hydrocarbons as the energy source and transforming them in organic substance of own biomass.
The biological preparation efficiency
Devoroil cleans water containing over 20% of oil and soils polluted by over 260 kg/sq.m. Microorganisms of the community are capable to effectively oxidize the oil hydrocarbons with circuit length of C9-C30 and aromatic hydrocarbons in a wide range of environment acidity (pH 5,5-9,5) and temperatures (15-37°С). Processing efficiency reaches 94%.
Devoroil is a polyculture comprising of 5 kinds of microorganisms. 1 (one) titre - one gram of the preparation contains not less than 280 000 000 cells. As each kind of microorganisms shows the greatest activity for separate oil fractions thus the greatest efficiency is achieved, because all fractions of oil products are processed at once with same speed. This is the major advantage of the Devoroil preparation in comparison with other biological products.
As for other biological products it is necessary to note that the only disadvantage it has is only one kind of bacteria (pseudo-monads) capable to decompose only water-soluble low-molecular oil components. This fact essentially narrows the usage spectrum of the specified preparations. Moreover, as the oil solubility in water is quite low, only partial cleaning is possible.
Devoroil and its applied methods implemented on the oil polluted territory, have been presented at the International exhibitions «Oil and gas» in Russia and abroad (Moscow 1993-1994; Alma-Ata 1994; Leipzig 1994-1995; Singapore 1994; Tyumen 1995-1996; Ufa 2000-2004) at which deserved the highest honors.

General information
The preparation represents a carefully sorted out community hydrocarbon-oxidizing bacteria and yeast successfully working in various natural and anthropogenesis ecosystems.
Microorganisms of the preparation are adapted for the environments with salinity up to 150 g/l, i.e. equally well work both in fresh and sea water, and also are capable to complex decomposition of both water soluble and insoluble components of oil (when headed into the oil slick). Last property of the preparation essentially reduces the time necessary for pollution neutralization and protects microorganisms from flashing them away from the oil by freshet waters and rains.
The preparation is simple to use. The working preparation suspension (prepare directly before use) is applied on the polluted soil or water surface by overhead irrigation or machine dispersion (at soil or water temperature between +5°С and +40°С). The consumption of the preparation depends on pollution degree.
After processing only easily decaying bacterial protein and ecologically clean neutral products of oil hydrocarbons decomposition remain.
Dosage of the preparation depends on the soil pollution degree.
One of the major factors limiting the hydrocarbons decomposition process is the air-gas mode of soil pollution. For hydrocarbons oxidation by microorganisms molecular oxygen is needed, in anaerobic conditions the oxidation process is essentially complicated.
Hoeing the polluted soils increases oxygen diffusion, reduces hydrocarbon concentration in ground, makes a break of the superficial pores sated with oil, but at the same time it helps the evenly distribute the oil components in soil and to increase active surface interaction. Thus optimum water, air-gas and thermal mode is created, the number of microorganisms grows, their activity, as well as activity of soil enzymes amplifies, energy of biochemical processes increases. Optimum soil temperature is 20 - 370С.
Soil coverage with biogenic elements (nitrogen, phosphorus and kalium) is an important factor determining intensity of oil and oil products decomposition. It is necessary to fill the lack of biogenic elements with mineral fertilizers. The need for nutritious elements depends on the soil type, however practically always the biogenic elements in mineral fertilizers stimulate decomposition of hydrocarbons. The biogenic elements are brought into the soil when tilling.
When adding the microbes-destructors culture with mineral fertilizers on the watered sites, the lowering factor it 2,0 on 1000 м3 of water. Soil humidity renders positive influence on oil and oil products decomposition speed. After watering agrochemical properties of soil improve, particularly mobility of nutrients, microbiological and fermentation activity increases.
Soil acidity also plays an important role. Close to neutral рН values are optimal for growth on hydrocarbons of the majority of microorganisms. For soil deoxidation it's possible to add in lime or dolomitic flour in quantity of 2000 kg on 1 hectare. Lime reduces mobility of the toxic substances containing in oil. For active restoration for sod-podsolic soils that became from the oil pollution technogenic saline and solonetzic soils, chemical land melioration, particularly, plastering is recommended. In this case if there's moisture enough with the plaster the absorbed sodium is superseded by calcium, and the formed sodium sulfate is washed away, technogenic soil alkalinity decreases.
Sowing grasses with the branched out root system in the oily soil promotes acceleration of hydrocarbons decomposition. Positive influence of agricultural plants, in particular perennial grasses, speaks that their developed root system helps improvement of the air-gas mode of the polluted soil, enriches the soil with nitrogen and biologically active compounds. All this stimulates the growth of microorganisms and accelerates oil and oil products decomposition. Also it is necessary to consider the ability of plants to decompose various oil hydrocarbons.
Ecological, sanitary and fire safety.
Biological preparation Devoroil consists of not pathogenic stamms, allocated of natural ecosystems and growing on hydrocarbons of various classes and some their derivatives. The tests undertaken in a number of Russia Ministry of Health institutes have proved ecological and sanitary safety of the Devoroil preparation. All stamms of the microorganisms the preparation consists of, do not possess pathogenicity or toxicity while the preparation does not cause irritation and does not penetrate through skin.
Devoroil is ecologically safe as in the result of oil biological degradation the neutral products which are negatively affect the ecosystems are formed. Standard tests on crustaceans and fishes have not showed any negative effect on the aquatic organisms.
Devoroil is permitted to usage by the State Committee of sanitary-and-epidemiologic supervision at the President of the Russian Federation and the expert commission of the central administrative board of the state ecological expertise at the Ministry for Protection of the Environment and Natural Resources of Russia.
Devoroil is a dry preparation; its working solutions are nonflammable and explosion-proof. Temperature of the biological product's spontaneous combustion is 435°С, the combustion lower limit is 195,5°С.
Practical use
The biological product Devoroil has proved itself well in various climatic zones and different kinds of soils. Here some examples:
Western Siberia, the Tyumen area, NGDU «Pravdinskneft» and other enterprises
Until 1999 the works on microbiological water and soil cleaning took place on the polluted territories of Tyumen region (Open Company "Lukoil Western Siberia" - TPP Kogalimneftegaz, TPP "Langepasneftegaz", "Megionneftegaz", "Nijnevartovskneftegaz", JV "Vaneganneft"), Tomsk region (Open Society "Tomskneft" VNK) and Irkutsk region. In 1999 the works on the polluted territories of Komi Republic (Open Society "Komineft", Open Society "Mobel-Oil"), Tyumen region (Open Society "Slavneft-Megionneftegaz", JV "Vaneganneft", " Ugra-oil" Corporation, NGDU "Samotlorneft", NGDU "Belozerneft", NGDU "Priobneft") and Tomsk region (NGDU "Vasuganneft", Open Society "Tomskneft" VNK) have begun. Works were under control of the wildlife management committees of these regions. For all period of the technology application (1993 - 1999) recultivated and handed over to the corresponding wildlife management committees about 800 hectares of oil polluted water surface.
As a result of the Devoroil application in a month the film oil on water surface attains the non-spreading flocculent structure, subsided to the bottom, and in two months completely disappeared.
Bashkortostan
The preparation has found active application in various areas of Bashkiria at liquidation of oil pollution on sites of NGDU «Ishimbayneft», «Arlanneft», «Chekmagushneft», «Ufaneft», «Tuymazaneft», etc.

Preparation the medium for activation Devoroil.
Mineral medium consists of:
Na2CO3 - 0,1; СаС12*6Н2О - 0,01; MnSO4*5H2O - 0,02; FeSO4*7H2O -0,01; Na2HPO4 - 1,5; КН2РО4 - 1,0; MgSO4*7H2O - 0,2; NH4C1 - 1,0; NaCl (0,5%) - 5,0; distilled water ≤ 1000 milliliters; pH=6,8-7,2.
Fill the 500 milliliters flasks by 100 milliliters of medium and close up the flasks by cotton tap and sterilize in autoclave. Conditions of sterilization: 1 atm, Т° -123° С for 20 minutes.
Add to the flask 10 grams of Devoroil after cooling the medium and put at cradle with the room-temperature for 24 hours. Conditions of cradle: 120-180 rpm.
Prepare samples of oil-polluted soil. Add ameliorator (peat, sawdust, etc. in the ratio - 1:1) and mix. Starting from the content of soil add the suspension of Devoroil in proportion per 100 grams of soil - 20 ml of suspension.
The sample of soil should be humidified by mineral medium up to 80% of moisture (It's not obligatory to use sterilized medium).
Test the sample for a month every 5 days and rate the decrease of content of the oil.
